Version 1.3.4 for gbootroot has been released.
There is a new button in the ARS to access the filesytem box, UML has been
updated to 2.4.17-10um, uml tools to 20020125, and gbootroot is now
available in rpm format along with tar.gz and deb.

Using Bill Stearn's root fs I was able to test the RPMs on Red Hat 7.2 and
Mandrake 8.1. There are two types of RPM packages to choose from.
Distributions which require perl-GTK and require perl-base for perl such
as Mandrake or PDL should use the mdk rpm. Distributions which require
Gtk-Perl and only require perl for perl such as Red Hat should use the rpm
not marked as mdk.
The perl module for Expect is required, which in turn requires IO-Tty and
IO-Stty. A search on the Net revealed that the existing RPMs for these
three modules are either outdated, don't have their dependencies set-up
properly, or require a particular version of the perl5 series. In
response, I built RPM packages which support the i386 architecture and the
perl5 series such as 5.6.0 and 5.6.1. These are available at
Because these modules are used to automate the Linux Virtual Machine, and
I wasn't able to test the alvm within uml, don't hesitate to report any
problems or anything else you may find.
