Not that I'm volunteering, but I have an idea for solving people's
upgradability/configurability woes. I think something akin to BSD's
unionfs would solve a lot of these problems. For those not familiar,
unionfs let's you mount two filesystems at the same mount point. All
changes go to one specific filesystem that overloads the other. So if
Linux had unionfs, you could configure all of your UML's to union mount
the public /etc with a per-UML /etc.
