Reposting the question:
i started the uml as follows:
ne con=port:9901 con0=fd:0,fd:1 umid=test1 mem=32m
Now I open 3 terminals on the host OS and telnet on the uml with the
telnet localhost 9901
Only 2 terminals are able to connect to UML and gives login prompt. My
question is why it is restricted to only 2 telnet terminals??? Can i
increase the no. of terminals connected to UML
Also, if i use a simple java program to telnet on the UML, the input output
streams gets corrupted and Iam not able to telnet to the port from the
console as well.
Thanks and Best Regards,

This is limited by the number of console you have defined in your
inittab file. Look for these entries in /etc/inittab
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 ttys/0
You probably have only 3 like these,
