I was able to get the executable version "linux"
bt when i tried to ran it there is no login promt instead
following error messages appear:
1) VFS: cannot open root device "udb0" or 62:00
2) Please append a correct "root=" boot option
3) Kernel Panic ."vfs" unabble to mount root fs on 62:00
iam doenloading root-fs-md-82-nonsrv.pristine.200020324.bz2.part
pls let me know what should be done next

I don't remember if this arose in 2.5/2.6 or the later 2.4's (or might
have migrated to 2.4.22) but --
on my 2.6 I have to add "root=/dev/ubd0" b/c the default is "root=ubd0"
and apparently it no longer prepends "/dev/" internally :o
You might also need to make sure that you have /dev/ubd0 (presumably the
root_fs downloads do, though :) and that you ahve "devfs=nomount" on the
kernel command line
Of course, if you HAVE met those conditions already, I can't help ya :/
