I've recently started experimenting with hostfs root filesystems.
Using 2.4.18-48 I start up a UML as root using the following command:
linux ubd0=/uml/vhost1 devfs=mount con=fd:0,fd:1 eth0=tuntap,tap0
Everything comes up fine the only problem I'm having is that any file
that is created is always owned by root. This breaks software that I
would like to use such as qmail.
It appears that all files created have the uid of the uml linux process
and not the uid of the process within the uml that created it.
Have I missed something in the docs ? If not would it be difficult to do
this ? [if uml started as root with hostfs filesystem => create files
with owner of the process within the uml that created it]
Thanks for any pointers.
