This provides foundations to the rest of the kernel to function. The rest of the kernel is mainly the same for all architectures. What of the generic kernel is used depends a lot on how many kernel features you have enabled. This is not really relevant to UML but a generic kernel question. Most drivers are not relevant to the UML architecture as these are hardware dependent and UML does not provide any hardware. The only drivers relevant to UML is the hardware independent drivers.
