This sounds like lost interrupts. I'll have a look and track this down.

Have you tried this since I decided that flow control was fixed again (-17)?
I've just loaded the latest RPM package and using the command line "linux /ubd0=cow_fs,root_fs".
I'm not seeing the creation of the cow_fs file and the boot fails if root_fs is readonly.
