Hello again, so in the past few days I moved all of user mode linux stuff fro SuSe Linux to Red Hat 8.0. Went pretty well too, except now I have the problem, that I cannot seem to get uml_net to work anymore. I want to of course use it to invoke several UMLs and easily set their IPs etc. so I do not have to do this manually, this is also kind of silly to do, when they all run in detached screens. Under SuSe this worked fine, Red Hat 8.0 it does not: uml_net never seems to get invoked. I made a shell wrapper for it to echo the args to a file when it gets invoked and then invoke the real binary. The rpm installed it in /usr/bin/uml_net allright with suid to root etc. Everything looks fine as usual. So what could the problem be w/ RH 8? Thanks. By the way I have made a Red Hat Root File System for the UMLs which is "well filled" i.e. there is a lot of other libs etc. in it so you can invoke things like ssh, scp, ftp, vi etc. Should I maybe donate this ? Its fairly large of course but its really useful. I could gladly donate it to one of our web sites. I would take some of our specifics back out and then give it away. Love Snoopy |
