The attached patches solves the speed problem with slirp, the issue seems to have been O_NONBLOCK not being set on a fd. These should work on 2.4.19-12 and -13. As an added bonus for the weirdos out there, ok, the *other* weirdos out there besides me, you can now do stuff like: "eth0=slip,ssh,-l,umluser,192.168.9.90,slirp,'redir_8080_192.168.8.20:80','baudrate_1152000'" and use a remote host as your networking nexus.
