Hi,

I am a graduate student and doing a project on "Studying the improved startup behavior of TCP: with new Congestion control schemes" , using Linux kernel programming. I am planning to use UML first.

I have installed Redhat Linux version: 9.0.  Is this good or do i need to use some other ?

My kernel version is :

ubname -a command's o/p:
Linux  localhost.localdomain 2.4.20-8 #1  i586 i586 i386 GNU/Linux

My PC has a RAM of 96 MB and hard disk is 6GB. It is a Toshiba Techra 520CDT/2.1.

The UML version that i have installed is :
user_mode_linux-2.4.19.5um-0.i386.rpm

Also i am using this file system :
root_fs.rh-9-full.pristine.20030724.bz2

I followed all the steps of the tuturial:

But after doing the bunzip of the file system.....and giving the command :

./linux in /opt/uml as given in start of the Section 4.....it does not boot up the UML. it gives me the error (Last 2 lines of the o/p of the command):

Initializing RT netlink socket
Kernel Panic: outer trampoline didn't exit with SIGKILL

Can you please tell me why is this happening and wht must i do to resolve it. Also can you give me pointers to some sites which will tell me how to operate UML and also learn about it.

Please reply back to amps22@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Amita
