I'm a UML newbie and I have been trying to get a UML system running on a FC5 host with the 2.6.18 kernel, but I seem to be stuck. I compiled a 2.6.18 guest kernel with the ARCH=um and the mainline-jmpbuf-akpm patch applied (without this 'make' would fail). I have also created a guest filesystem and loaded the FC5 Base packages using yum.
When I attempt to start the UML instance, the guest system hangs after the following log messages are displayed:
TCP bic registered
NET: Registered protocol family 1
NET: Registered protocol family 17
Initialized stdio console driver
Console initialized on /dev/tty0
Initializing software serial port version 1
ubda: unknown partition table
kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly.
^ Hangs here until I kill the guest kernel process. After killing the process the following gets logged:
Failed to get registers from stub, errno = 3
Kernel panic - not syncing: get_skas_faultinfo : failed to wait for SIGUSR1/SIGTRAP, pid = 2001, n = 2001, errno = 0, status = 0x9

I downloaded a 2.6.18 kernel and FC5 filesystem from Antoine Martin's website and I see the same behavior. Are there any known issues with running a 2.6.18 guest system with FC5 on a 2.6.18 host system with FC5?
Sorry for the long post, let me know if there is additional information I can provide that will help debug what is not working. Thanks!
