It's a minor irritation having the application come up
after a user logs in, only to lock the desktop after
the timeout period if the fob is not turned on or if
the receiver is not plugged in. Instead there should be
a balloon message informing user of the situation, and
not lock the desktop, on initial startup.

This would make the fob completely useless, unless you
password protect on startup. Either way you have to type in
a password, but if someone can gain access to your system
simply by rebooting there would be little point to the
    device in the first place.

Isn’t that just a tamper proof feature so that I can't just
restart your pc when you are not around or so that I can't
    just unplug the receiver?
