An open source pic programmer for the USB port has been released under GPL and we call the baby: usbpicprog.
Usbpicprog consists of 3 components:
* A hardware design, a simple design around one PIC18F2550, 3 mosfets and a hand full of passive components.
* Firmware for the PIC18F2550 which translates the USB data into signals to program the target PIC
* PC software for Windows, Linux and Macosx which is capable of loading an intel hex file to program the target processor.
All the designs and software (binary and source) can be downloaded from http://usbpicprog.org, but the hardware is also available for sale.
