    today I've received your pre-programmed PIC; thanks indeed!

One question: if I type in linux 'lsusb' with the UPP attached (with the PIC
with only the bootloader flashed), should I see a line indicating the UPP?
Or I need to flash the microcontroller code on the PIC to see something listed?
