on MCLR the voltage is correctly 0/12; but on PGD and PGC lines the voltage 
levels are not exactly 0/5 but rather -0.6/5.5; I think this (or maybe one of 
the several other attempts I did :)) may have damaged the PIC I'm using... (abs 
max ratings say that voltages lower than -0.3V or higher than 5.3V on any pin 
except MCLR and few others may damage the PIC) :/

I did; in fact when MCLR is driven to 12V I read before the limiting resistor D6 
exactly 12V (thanks to the zener); after the resistor about 11.65V...

I'd appreciate this very much, if it's not a problem!

I built the through-hole version so that if you have a DIP 18F2550 that would be 
perfect. I'll obviously pay (using paypal is ok?) for the PIC and shipping 
charge fees...
If it's ok, I'll send you my mail address privately...
