#7 Midisport uninstallable in Debian Sarge
Hello,
The newest version (1.2) of the midisport drivers
reports that udev 0.57 or higher is required. Debian
currently ships udev version 0.56 in Sarge (stable
version).
The Debian package maintainer recommends either
upgrading to etch version or using a backport, which in
either case is more than inconvenient and raises many
security issues. In the current situation, it seems a
kernel change would be required in order to upgrade udev.
Alas, former versions (0.5 and 1.0) will not install
eiher and / or plainly not function.
I do realize you guys do not have to take each and
every distribution into consideration, but any help or
advice in order for me to get my Midisport devices back
without compromising system security or having to
compile / backport would be appreciated.
