older versions of 'jtag', I used #1502, allowed to specify the USB vid and pid when the usbblaster cable was used. The syntax was
cable usbblaster vid=16c0 pid=03ef
I used this to access for example Digilent Nexys2 and Nexys3 boards with a custum fx2 firmware which allowed both jtag access and data transfer. To distinguish this custom firmware from plain 'jtag only' versions I used the vid/pid 16c0/03ef.
The latest jtag versions, I looked at #2007 which comes for example with Ubuntu 12.04, unfortunately do not allow to specify vid and pid, they have simply a static list of vid/pid compiled into.
Why has this useful feature been removed ?
It there an alternate way to access an usbblaster emulation via USB with an arbitary vid/pid ?
With best regards, Walter
this issue is resolved in a rather simple way. #1502 had hex as default radix for the vid and pid parameters, while #2007 apparently has decimal as default radix for the vid and pid parameters. Therefore
worked for old versions like #1502, but fails now. Using instead
cable usbblaster vid=0x16c0 pid=0x03ef
works fine for #1502 as well as #2007.
