    Dear Hokuyo engineer,

Could you explain the edm function more clearly?
Is EDM used to monitor the voltage level of input signal by connected machine?
According to UAM manual page 32, the EDM is connected to DC24V. I connected to DC24V.
But I recevied the error code A6. Could you tell us how to connect the EDM when enabling EDM function?

    Thanks a lot!

EDM function controls external devices, such as, safety relays, by verifying the status of OSSD signals.
As shown in the figure 3-18 in the manual, the EDM input monitors the NC contact of the external relay detecting failures, such as, contact weilding.
Figure 3-19 shows the timing diagram when the EDM function is active. EDM input changes according to the state of OSSD signal. OFF Delay is the duration for EDM signal to trun off after OSSD state changes from OFF to ON and ON Delay is the duration of EDM signal to turn on after OSSD state changes from ON to OFF. These two parameters are configurable using the configuration software of UAM and must be selected appropriately to avoid error or locout condition.

Connecting the EDM to just 24V will not trun it ON or OFF the according to OSSD state. Therfore device is reporting the error A6. Connect the EDM signal such that it changes the state with OSSD signal.

    Santosh.

    Hi Santosh,

According to your answer for EDM pin defination, the EDM signal is output signal.
    Is that correct?

    Hi Sheng-Chieh,

EDM is an input signal to the sensor from the machine or system, which should switch its state in the opposite direction of the OSSD signal.

    Santosh.
