kia ora koutou the launch from my perspective went very well indeed - i had usual extreme nerves before the kick off especially as it was looking like we might have to do a show that was all smoke and mirrors earlier a lot of the day had been testing and checking things to ensure douglas would fix them for the launch and preparing presentation stage and rl venue - this meant the last minute tech check of webcams etc just merged into people arriving and the rl set up i did endeavour to keep len and k updated with what was happening in rl but in presentation got out of sync with hen's presentation when i flicked up a series of backdrops to find the one she was on [sorry about that and the seeming confusion for the online audience] one of things i enjoyed, and although they couldn't see it on the screen i did mention to the medialab audience, was the continuing action in arabia while we had moved into virtual tourist [the process for moving the audience through the stages was clumsy and the idea of being able to change the backdrops was to negate that, BUT had the wonderful consequence in the group who hadn't finished with that story carrying on playing with it for themselves] felt at the end as has been mentioned that there was no sense of the performance has finished and did rush off a bit in order to try and connect with a few people in the audience Now have made it back to the west coast [home of the virtual tourist pics] have just been in to have a look at the stuff article [shame about the spelling of your name len!] my brother is here and i showed him the article so he followed the link to upstage read the homepage then went into have a look at the stages [while i observed] he was a little confused as to what was happening or required of him, but typed in some text [he expected that he might be able to move the avatars left on the stage] i went in with player login to show him the avs and backdrops [he has been spending a lot of time down the packtrack over the last few days so was excited to see the photos in virtual tourist and enjoyed the chenge in backdrops and avs but unfortunately then explorer quit on us we will need to give an indication of the optimum browser for each platform on site for future shows [and also for download - graeme waited for some time unsure if the stage was still coming ] other things that are priorities for post launch for me are props working and drawing and a white bkgrnd in text log window - these are must do's from my perspective [i speak here for karla also and the worldx project] karla and i will be sorting out a schedule and have more 'need to haves' to add to the list for you soon douglas ;) all in all i think we have a remarkable achievement and i am proud to be involved cheers vicki :) |

yes - i started to compile all the info we have so far before i left but i didn't get very far ... will try to find time to make a bit more of a stab at it over the next few weeks. another post-launch priority, pre-worldx, is fixing up the different levels of player access, so that there can be player only, administrator player, & super player or something like that. so that those who are player only can't add & delete other players, for example. have just got to my london pad after i don't know how many hours in the air - flights were all smooth but the singapore-london leg seemed to go on forever, i couldn't sleep so i watched a movie & nearly finished a very long book. len, did you see me wave as we passed over helsinki this morning? (well, a bit to the south). now hitting the sack for a very long sleep ... h : ) > >we will need to give an indication of the optimum browser for each platform >on site for future shows [and also for download - graeme waited for some >time unsure if the stage was still coming ] > >other things that are priorities for post launch for me are props working >and drawing and a white >bkgrnd in text log window - these are must do's from my perspective [i >speak here for karla also and the worldx project] > >karla and i will be sorting out a schedule and have more 'need to haves' to >add to the list for you soon douglas ;) > >all in all i think we have a remarkable achievement and i am proud to be >involved > >cheers >vicki :) > > > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software. >Perforce is the Fast Software Configuration Management System offering >advanced branching capabilities and atomic changes on 50+ platforms. >Free Eval! http://www.perforce.com/perforce/loadprog.html >_______________________________________________ >Upstage-list mailing list >Ups...@li... >https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/upstage-list -- ____________________________________________________________ helen varley jamieson: creative catalyst he...@cr... http://www.creative-catalyst.com http://www.avatarbodycollision.org http://www.writerfind.com/hjamieson.htm ____________________________________________________________ |
