this is a bit old but i've only just got round to uploading it. at the end of may i did a workshop in amsterdam & the people there noticed differences in how things were displayed on different computers.

donna said: "on my old ibook, 4:3 and 1024x768 i see the whole jpeg, but audrey only sees a cropped corner top left."

audrey said: "from my mac - 1400x900 res or all resolutions all capture a diff part of image than from donnas attached."

i have 3 screengrabs to upload ... not sure if this system lets me upload more than one but here goes ...

web cams: for the last 3 weeks i've been using 2 web cams on a stage 24 hours a day (cams are only live for library opening hours) & until now their positioning has been amazingly consistent across different browsers (i'm mainly looking in firefox, safari & opera - all on mac, but in the libraries they are using opera on windows). then suddenly today, the positioning has changed - it's fine in opera & safari, but in firefox it's off to the bottom right.

it seems that in firefox, the cursor holds the top left corner of the web cam avatar, while in opera & safari it holds the middle of it, & it goes to the place where the cursor is.

i've attached some images. it's very strange that has not been a problem for several weeks, & suddenly today it is a problem, when nothing has changed.

curiously, today the web cams are in identical positions in firefox, safari and opera. when i first loaded the stage they were positioned off to the side (altho when i finished last night they were centred) & also showing the same in opera; i corrected them in firefox & they changed correspondingly in opera & safari.

maybe it's not so much a bug as understanding how it works??? because sometimes it's way off, & yet other times it's perfect ...

this issue appears to have got worse since the server upgrade; for example, in a presentation on 22 July 2010, two avatars placed in the bottom right-hand corner of the stage appeared in the top left-hand corner of some online audience members' screens. also the show/hide of av name on stage was not consistent across different users.

maybe it will be resolved when we finally manage to get the latest AUT code on our server, but if not it needs to be prioritised.

there are still issues with this. suzon has just reported discrepancies when using the Chrome browser. we also noticed dscrepancies during a performance in july, when avatars that we had placed in the lower right hand corner of the stage, appeared for some audience in the top left hand corner.
