I posted the greyed out local host issue. When I try and connect to the router, Portmapper cannot locate it. Doesn't the program just local at the gateway to locate the router. Is that why I cannot determine the IP automatically... I am running Windows 7 Ult.

PortMapper uses two different UPnP libraries (SBBI and weupnp) for finding and interacting with a router. I don't know the details, but I think that both libs send a network broadcast to discover routers. You could try to select a different lib in the settings dialog.
Another error cause could be, that UPnP is disabled in your router or it doesn't support UPnP or has a buggy UPnP implementation.
Maybe the network discovery doesn't work on Windows 7 as I have not tested PortMapper with this OS.

    Hi Anonymous,

sorry, there is nothing I can do for you. I am planning to include another UPnP lib that could solve your problem, but currently I don't have time for this.
Maybe the UPnP implementation in your router is just buggy.

    Kind regards,
    Christoph.

    Hi Anonymous,

sorry again, I don't think I can help you there. Maybe UPnP is deactivated on your new router or it does not support UPnP at all.

    Kind regards,
    Christoph.

christoph, I am facing the same issue.. I used all the libraries, none could help.
I used upnp-portmapper from Live Kali Linux, from same PC...and it worked fine.
Issue is with Windows7 Ultimate only.. I hope you solve soon,.

Please try version 2.0.0-alpha1 and use the new cling library. Just select Cling in the options and re-connect.

after i upgraded to windows 10, portmapper stopped working. it worked fine on windows 7 and i used it all the time. once i upgraded it stopped working though and i dont know why. it says it cannot find any routers, when i know it should be able to because it used to find it just fine. I haven't changed any router settings or anything.

Have you tried to use one of the other UPnP libraries?
