Good morning,
I'm a researcher at the University of Minnesota. The lab I am in studies lower back pain and we are huge fans of your work. However, we have an issue on Windows computers. Although we downloaded it as instructed in the txt file, about half of the time, on Windows computers, we receive an error message and the program stops responding. The error message is not completely visible , the visible part reads "Type Object..." It even happens when using UpDown's sample data. But not all the time, just around half the time. Do you have any advice for fixing this issue, or what may be causing the issue? I appreciate your help.

Hi Alexander, glad to hear our work is helpful to you. I have a feeling this issue occurs when something goes wrong in the initial processing stage. More specifically, we first convert the input pdf file into corresponding images that the software can read and parse more easily, thus the required dependencies on Windows. To help avoid this problem, make sure the app has sufficient permissions to read and write to the directory containing the file being processed and that the file selected in not contained in a zipped file. Our app will not be able to go inside a zipped folder to read a file. Also try placing your input files somewhere other than the Downloads directory if possible. Another alternative to unblock you would be to run the application on a Mac OS computer if you have access to such machine in the lab.
If you encounter this issue again, please provide answers to the questions below and a copy of one file that fails to help us troubleshoot.
* When you say it tends to fail once in a while on Windows, is that always on the same machine or different Windows machines?
* Did you notice anything common among the times where it failed? For instance, did you notice if this tends to occur only when the input file is in a particularly directory or when the filename itself contains unusual characters (perhaps space, symbols, etc.)?
* What version of Windows are you using?

Thank you for responding so quickly! There are some windows computers it
does not work on at all, and some that usually work but not always. On a
computer that never works, today I have tried to rename the file to remove
all spaces and symbols, and saving it to my desktop or to my documents
folder. Neither of these helped but worst case scenario I could use our
lab's mac.
I appreciate your help
Alexander

I am having a similar issue when using the UpDown software. I will select a pdf file for processing but I receive the error code: 'NoneType' object is not iterable
This occurred with new pdf files and also older pdf files that were previously processed properly. I attached a copy of the pdf file I attempted to process.
I admire you and your software, but after installing your software on my Windows system, I got the error "failed to execute script main", so I can't use the software, I uploaded a picture of the error and would like your help!
Hi Bruno - I am having a similar issue to Chris Rynne.
I am using MacOS Ventura 13.4. I'm able to run the software and import a PDF, but when I start analysis I get an error: 'NoneType' object is not iterable. The same error appears when I run the sample data sheet that comes with the download package, so it is not a problem with how my data sheets are being filled out or scanned. Please let me know if there's anything on my end that can be done to fix this!
Thanks,
Dennis

I have the same problem with the input, two types of errors: either N/A in each box, when I do have X or O; and "Error: 'NoneType' object is not iterable". I really appreciate if you can help me on that. Thanks, Monara
