I have been going through a lot of forums recently, most noticeably the FoF boards and the ScoreHero boards. I didn't really realize how much of a shockwave my project was making!
It seems the gamers want a few things from my project and I started this as a community-driven project from the start. Tomorrow, (Saturday 23rd February 2008) at midnight EST, I will release a binary version of Unsigned. This means you guys won't have to go through what is being described as the "painful" process of using the SVN any more.
This version will support our native Unsigned format for songs. It has a converter from FeedBack's ".chart" file that will convert to guitar and bass (but still needs considerable testing). It will feature local multiplayer for guitar, bass, and drums.
I have heard what the gamers want with this project and here are a few things I plan to deliver on in the future:
-Full-Compatibility with all formats (GuitarZero, FoF, FeedBack, and MIDI) natively! (The game will load them right up)
-Higher resolution notes that don't look dull (this is a surprisingly popular complaint)
-Compatibility for lesser machines, including a 2D version
Once I get those goals, I will work on getting some online multiplayer working… then maybe get those rockers animated. Oh yeah, and add vocals (but dammit, I wont look forward to that nightmare!).
There is one catch though. For me to justify pouring all of my time into this, I need a strong community. I need people to start writing song notations.
