Just to correct CM,
It will work ... what CM surgested is the "less to type but more unreadable
way of doing it ..." you could take it right down to
irc IN A 127.0.0.1
IN A 127.0.0.2
And so on ... as the mydomain.com is in the IN SOA record !
the DNS server selects the address according to what is closer to the person
doin the resolving
