UNPOD - the rectifier
UNPOD was created in response to the obnoxious and unwanted alteration of perfectly good mp3 filenames by Apple software.
It was UNCOOL, so I had to UNPOD.
Someday I'll work on handling the m4a format as well, but since my collection was solid mp3, didn't make the effort. The m4a section is commented out, so if you'd like, remove the #'s and feel free to have at it.
This software operates against a directory name containing the mp3 files to be converted.
WINDOWS USERS
double-click unpod.exe.
unpod is the source, if you're interested. If you want to modify alter the code you will need to install ActivateState perl along with the additional modules listed below.
No, this software does not provide a Windows USB driver to pre-empt Itunes. Boot from a standalone linux OS on CD or thumbdrive (Knoppix, Ubuntu, Damn Small Linux, etc..), plug in your ipod, and copy your tunes to the hard drive.
LINUX USERS
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING PERL MODULES INSTALLED
Tk
Tk::DialogBox
Tk::LabEntry
MP3::Tag
If you're looking to get the m4a working, you'll also need MP4::Info
