We have a 16 processor domain and are seeing the reported CPU percentages for top be roughly 16 times what is reported by prstat for the same processes. For example, top will report that an oracle process is using 8% CPU and prstat will show the same oracle process using 0.5%.
I downloaded version 3.6 of top from Sourceforge, compiled it with GCC 3.4.3, and we are running Solaris 10 Kernel 118833-36. I did read the notes and verified I had the correct paths for the GCC compiler and libraries. Is there a fix available for this error? Thank you.
Top 3.6.1 was recently released and it includes a fix for this problem. Version 3.6 was not biasing the CPU percentages for all available processors, but was showing a percentage of a single processor. This was fixed in 3.6.1.
