Malaysian system requires all students to seek for govt and other institution aid for their tuition fees.
The system alot all new students as unsponsored and allow user to choose from students list by filter of study session, program code and sponsor status. http://www.red1.org/university/loan_mod.htm
The edit button leads to the Loan Form where further student academic data is furnished to qualify for loan application.
IN the application form of the loan module, the student previous exams results or academic achievements will be stated for qualification. They are usually the 'O'Levels - SPM, Diploma and Degree results. They meant for candidates of Dipploma, Degree and Masters programmes respectively.
Theese info are held in the Adm_Applicant_Exam table.
Even after gaining funding for their studies, some sponsors require that candidates return a minimal good performance in their semesters' GPA i.e. 2.0 and above.
Thus the Loan Form must continue to be maintained to show continous exams results. Such marks are stored from the Exams Module in the Student_Marks table.
The exam results display are already in the Admission and Transcript Module, so we need to astudy and adapt and reuse their codes. This is relatively easy as we are using Java.
The sample views that we are designing towards after are at http://red1.org/university/loanapplylist.htm .. click on the apply button of the first candidate and it shall lead to http://red1.org/university/loanformsample.htm
Now we have a finished work at http://red1.org/university/loanform.htm
The Academic Background panel uses the adm_ tables from the admission module, which is dynamic. Thus u can set up its exams name, subjects, and results numbering.
The Exams Results picks up from published transcripts. Thus for incomplete transcript publishing we have to provide a overide panel or rite in that panel itsself for the office to key in the transcript results. (Then a flag has to be used in transcript_display that stores the results to remember that if its keyin override not to republish again which will delete it and update with fresh calculations).
After the Sponsor Selection is completed, we have to make a report that will pull out all isComplete records that has no sponsor status (SENDIRI), and Sponsor Approval Code is nil.
That report is for submission to the respective sponsors.
There is requirement that such a report be in a certain format and in softcopy either export to MS excel or MS access.
An idea for decreasing workload is when the feedback returns from the sponsor, where a checklist can be used to tick those who got approved, keyin their approval codes, duration, etc , all in multi row format, and posted to those records. Without calling this loan form one by one.
The Loan List allows also for selecting only those who havent obtained sponsors (i.e. isComplete, still "SENDIRI" and have a sponsor_first_choice).
Then by pressing on VIEW we can see the completed ones and keyin their approval codes to get them out of the SENDIRI list to the Sponsors Lists. http://red1.org/university/loanapproval.htm There is an incomplete checkbox to view only incomplete forms (i.e isComplete = "")
Upon clicking on 'Save Approved'
>the sponsor_first_choice will move into sponsor_id of student_biodata and student_sponsor
(note that student_sponsor.sponsor_id is UID so has to return from sponsor table where code = id);
>Approval code moved to student_biodata.verification_code, thus rendering it not to appear when we seek the unapproved list again.
This allow fast approving of the list, and later user can supply the loan amount and duration and agreement date.
We have left out someting and shall do next which is the export of Loan Application List in Excel format for the Sponsor to approve. It is done in excel so that its a softcopy for easy work by the sponsor instead of a hardcopy that will create a lot of unnecessary rework.
In future we can re import back this excel sheet so that even the keying of approval codes is unnecessary. This shall be an B2B round trip integration.
Another task for this Loan Module is the subsequent periodic updates to the sponsors on the status of the students:
> Whether they are still active in study course and still eligible for periodic loan payments
> Whether their performance (from the semester CGPA data) is up to par where required by the sponsor.
Such a report again shuld be in Excel format and indicate those data required.
Finally, we managed to have a decent Excel output: http://red1.org/university/loanreport.htm (converted to htm).
What we have proven is to very quickly PREPARE the selection for excel format which arranges 6 lines for each student record. And then by pressing the EXPORT key gives the xls file.
Now this soft copy can be used for further office admin work by the sponsor etc.
The other test output htms above are updated to show the new PREPARE and EXPORT buttons for excel.
The excel outputing uses the same XLSServlet2.java with NO change to it! The prepareXLS() method is posted in the red1.org College ERP Forum for easy reference on how the excel rearranging is done.
