Desktop Flavours Reduction Announcement

With the addition of Pantheon, and the Amber edition of LXQt and Xfce this month, UVE has grown to 12 desktop flavours. However, the reality is that the time required for overall maintenance is increasing and putting pressure on the club's management. In addition, it seems that the transition to Wayland is underway upstream, and UVE is also under pressure to respond.

Therefore, we have decided to reduce the number of desktop flavours to following five in order to improve business efficiency.... read more

Release Note: 24.01

Preface

Happy New Year! It's been 3 months since the last release, so I'll distribute the installation media with the latest software.

From this time, Pantheon flavour "Panthelent" is added! The lower dock looks good.
...You just said "Makku", didn't you? The abbereviation for "McDonald's" is probably "Makudo"!! (Oh, sorry, isn't that the one?)

Additional Features

  • Replaced Pamac with following as a software centre.
    • Discover (Univalent, Punivalent)
    • GNOME Software (Xunivalent, et al.)
  • Started distribution of LXQt and Xfce flavours "LXQt Amber" and "Xfce Amber" in which mesaextra is replaced with mesa-amberextra. If you use older Intel graphics, install this.
  • Resuming inclusion of “Dash To Dock” extension in Gunivalent... read more

Notice of Repository Reorganisation

Since mid-November, we have been preparing for the reorganisation of the Univalent Linux repository, and now that the system is in place and NHK-BS has been reorganised, we're opening it up to the public soon.

How does this impact UVE users?

  • The univalent-stable will be split into univalent (Univalent-specific packages) and multivalent (pre-built AUR packages).
    • Since multivalent does not contain any UVE-specific packages, it can be used by other Arch-based distros.
  • The univalent-stable is scheduled to be abolished in late March next year. Until then, the update will continue as a transition period.
  • AUR-derived packages from the univalent-testing repository are now independent as multivalent-testing.... read more

2023/10/04 Launch Package Repositories on GitHub

The package repository is now available on GitHub.
SourceForge had problems mainly in obtaining GPG keys, but this action will eliminate them.

Insert the following above the line of "#SourceForge" in "/etc/pacman.d/univalent-mirrorlist".
Server = https://njb-fm.github.io/uve-repo/$repo/$arch

Then execute the following command to update the package.
sudo pacman -Syu

If you have set the SigLevel of univalent-stable to "Never", you can delete the line as follows:

[univalent-stable]
Include = /etc/pacman.d/univalent-mirrorlist

Release Note: 23.10

Preface

This time, a new flavour, "Univalent Studio", has been added! This was developed to be a distro for creators, so please try it.
And the regular release interval will change to three months! I'm tired. I've been working hard for a year, so I've had enough, right? Please give me a compliment!

Additional Features

  • Univalent Studio: Derived from Punivalent, a more multimedia oriented flavor.
  • Replaced the AUR helper with "Nako" (in-house development).... read more

Notice of Default Kernel and License Changes

Following NJB's another product, Kamuriki Linux, UVE will switch to the 3-clause BSD license in the next release.
At this time, we'll continue to publish the source code on GitHub and distribute the stable source code in tarball on SourceForge.

You can read the original text here. There is also an unofficial Japanese translation by NJB.... read more

sudo pacman-key --recv-key 36f612f2 --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com
sudo pacman-key --lsign-key 36f612f2
sudo pacman -Syu univalent-keyring

This is a bit of a hassle, but if you don't do this, you can no longer update UVE's package. We're sorry to bother you, but we appreciate your cooperation.
