I assume we are talking here about "project joining forms" which are 
unity enquires, used to enroll existing unity users into an upman project.

In those cases, yes, the enquiry form should contain an add to project's 
group action in its automation. The default (auto generated) forms do 
have this configured, so at least in the default case it works out of 
the box.
