Yes - that is a long standing bug from day zero, only partially fixed.

This partial fix make the local part case in-sensitive (everything 
before @) - so this is fine. Unfortunately the domain in email is still 
compared in case sensitive manner in the current Unity version.

I'll drag the task to fix it up, we should do this long ago - but nobody 
asked and was bit forgotten.
