[Unity-idm-discuss] Java 8 migration

Dear All,

Early notice about our future plans: Unity will be moved to Java 8 from 
the release 1.7.0.

Note that 1.7.0 is not the next release, which will be 1.6.0. 1.7.0 can 
be expected no sooner then at the end of May.

Current support for Java 8 in distributions is improving: already now 
Centos 6 and 7 contains Java 8 as well as Fedora. Debian stable does not 
but Java 8 can be installed from additional repositories (besides the 
Oracle packages which are always available, however less convenient for 
administrators).
