No

debian has ftgl.h, not FTGL.h, so FTGL is not found.
However, the other FTGL*.h are found, so we can test for them:

aclocal.m4:
-if test ! -f "${FTGL_HOME}/include/FTGL/FTGL.h"
+if test ! -f "${FTGL_HOME}/include/FTGL/FTGLExtrdFont.h"

- AC_CHECK_HEADER(FTGL.h, [FTGL_cv_FTGL_h=yes], [FTGL_cv_FTGL_h=no])
+ AC_CHECK_HEADER(FTGLExtrdFont.h, [FTGL_cv_FTGL_h=yes], [FTGL_cv_FTGL_h=no])

    had to
    autoconf -f
    to get the new configure
( if svn gives configure a newer time ?)

Change in header check looks fine; committed to SVN.
The need to update/repair Fretype/Xft/FTGL support in Unicon is broader though.
Seems that there is a C-calls-C++ function layer, demoed working once but not stable/mature.
FTGL.h vs. ftgl.h is an FTGL version issue that may entail further mods.
