XAA: (sometimes) scribbles over FB when scrolling in mozilla

Asus A7VM400 (KM400A/VT7205)
Does this intermittently, mostly after a cold start.
After a few goes it tends to be solid for ages.
Basically, suddenly, when scrolling with the mouse in
mozilla, the FB is being overwritten and the system
becomes so unusable that audio is experiencing dropouts.
Requires reboot to restore decent interaction.

The VQ Status register just goes to 0x0001082 and stays like
that. The tight loop on the statuswaits takes too long to
bail out, and this tight loop causes the dropouts. X can be
killed np.
The 2D registers are unphased when 0x0 is being written to
all of them. I'm unable to reset any of these. No use poking
with the VQ either. I believe this can only be cured by a
powercycle.
I'm probably just going to try and find out which XAA call
with what values caused this, as i seem unable to do
anything else.
