#7 Decouple Formats from file extensions

Our program currently does not differentiate between formats and file extensions. These are often the same, but do not have to be. A good example of this is video, where there are only a few extensions, corresponding to the containers, but many formats.

In order to perform video conversion we need to be able to handle this!
