I am having problems logging into sourceforge...everytime i log in..it just goes back to the login page and doesn't display any errors. Any of you have the same trouble? -Corey |

Here you are...that extra } no longer appears in the output file. Now the program can be basically used and I can get somewhere with it...no more very very odd bugs. It seems my class never showed...so I was able to work on a few things :) -Corey |

I have a 3 class right now...but to sum it up...my program has a weird problem with fgetc or fgets or something....i was too busy to actually clear up the code...but I will soon. Then that extra } should go away. Talk to you later. -Corey ----- Original Message ----- From: "Miroslav Rajcic" <mir...@in...> To: "Zach Garner" <za...@ne...> Cc: "Thomas Gerlin" <tg...@us...>; "Corey Taylor" <co...@ac...> Sent: Sunday, October 01, 2000 5:46 AM Subject: Ummon 0.1.5 : I have released new version of the Ummon. : : In fact, I think it was stupid from me to add this big amount of changes : under same revision. : (I think that last version digit shoul change for each few small changes - : what do you guys think on this?) : : I need following help: : : - Zach, could you prepare UNIX distribution archive : Then I should post all at SF : - Corey, it would be nice to have your program to clean the source files :) : - Thomas -> any news on Win2000 debugging ? : Also, I would like to get feedback on my theory mail (and to discuss if you : could look into Jason Hutchens work :) : - ALL -> we should start debugging, collecting new ideas, experimenting, ... : : : One of the news in this version is learning from file, which helps us to : create huge knowledge base in less time. : : Please take a look at Windows debug build since it creates "trace.txt" file : with printouts of the algorithm steps. : : Using debug build exe you can try: : \learn pc.txt : \quit : : -> after those commands you'll have decent trace file that can help you : understand algorithm better : : Regards, : Miro : : |

new prerelease is out. Take a look at SpaceTide New stuff: - corrected bug indicated by Corey (crush when typing ".") - mapping command names to command handler functions - mapping variable names to variable values Todo: - reply algorithm |

Miro, Open ummon, type "." only in...program crashes. Open ummon, type "something." , make sure that period is there...screws up the reply. -Corey |

I am back :) Give me a day to recover, and then we should get back on the track of releasing new version. Corey, thank you for being active these days. I'll check youf uformat soon. I'm pretty sure crashes are taken into account for Posix file locking (fcntl). I checked (not a very extensive check, though) on OpenBSD a while back and everything looked fine and I would assume the rest of the UNIX systems would be ok as well. |

This is sent to the email list, miro hotmail account and posted on the board. Ok, I was reading the source code to Ummon taboo. Oh man, I hate this code completely. With that said, let me tell you about a "bug"? I found in the bot. First, if you give it a phrase too long then it will then use that phrase as part of the output for next reply. If you do a buch of single letters, or small words, etc for 2 inputs..then it reverts back to the "hello" reply. Usually the foresaid bug is repeating of the previous phrase, but if you do a lot, then it mixes them up IF(i think) you use keywords from the previous phrases. Not sure. Also, if you do a bunch of these, and then try using some of the same words/phrases it will mix some phrases together or output some old phrases, or partial phrases. Very weird. It may be a lack of ability in the bot...but the initial cause is very very odd. Heck, I couldn't even find the code quickly(i gave up after a while) to fix the log file output. Also, about the question in the source about a file being locked after program crashes..I don't know what that will do on the many platforms that this will be compatible with. 1) the log file (as i keep saying) outputs with missing line breaks 2) there is no time stamp/separator between the different sessions. -Corey |

Well, the indents with case statements are incorrect, but I haven't fixed it yet. I don't feel like keeping track of a whole two things at once in code :) Maybe i will tomorrow. -Corey |

I've (finally) removed the maximum file size limit for the mailling lists. It would probably still be better to not send larger files (>200k) through the mailling list. -- zach |

<a href="http://www.mindpixel.com/?ref=1">Visit Mindpixel</a> I don't know if you guys have seen this, but it is interesting. I supposedly learns from scratch like we do, but there is real ai in use. I have a friend who is going to interface a chatterbox with aim windows. He can do the windowing stuff just fine...but he has no chatterbox yet..that would be interesting. -Corey |

The tabbing bugs are fixed and the c style comments are skipped. The important extra features will probably be worked on this weekend. The same file extention for the ini will be used on unix also...i see no reason not to have one. -Corey |

Ah, thanks miro. I found my hosts lists...it wasn't quite where or what you thought...but I got it working. If you want, could write a debug into Ummon for that. I found that win2k has things in some special places with some special names...oh, the name didn't matter. -Corey |

I have been using version 3.23.23 (8MB binary download) and it works fine. You need to have: - mysql installed on localhost (same PC) -> just until we start using ini file => you can know that we are connected to mysql if the ummon program says so: "MySql server found on localhost" - you also have to create tables and users using ummon.sql script (instructions are inside it) That should be it. Please tell me do you get printout like "MySql server found on localhost" or "MySql server not found on localhost" ? That could narrow the possibilities. |

Ok, since the program isn't recognizing my mysql server, I want to know what system you are testing your program on miro. I have been running a windows version of Mysql for sometime now. Are you running on window, linux or both with this? I started going through the code, but I didn't see anything useful yet. I would rather go through the actual chat and log code instead of working on this. -corey |
