I do not have the time to maintain umlbuilder any more and am seeking someone who wants to take it over. I am happy to give up the name if you already have a project and think umlbuilder is a cooler name. I will also happily hand over all copyright to someone else, which means you can then do anything you want on the licensing side. There are around 10 downloads a day, with 150 daily web page views. There are several pieces inside that are nice. The CVS head contains an incomplete nicer user interface. It was designed with the idea of also being able to change settings after you had the guest up and running. There are also several scripts and other bits inside of interest, from an Xnest build and installation so that it looks like the real X server in a guest, through stuff that will take a bunch of RPMs and create a file of an ext2 disk containing them expanded, with the file appropriately sized and several other important things done. There is a umlbuilder_miniroot that performs several useful functions (it has been included with umlbuilder for a while but not documented). It includes a rescue mode, code that will resize and change filesystem formats, and code to install/create modules and initial ramdisks. There is also uml-custom.spec which automatically builds RPMs of uml kernels (including of kernels 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6). It also does the downloading of the source, and has various options to copy existing configurations and similar conveniences. Anyone interested? Roger |
