UML Builder GUI installs all packages in RedHat 7.3
regardless of which packages I select. I want a simple
network only based disto, and I'm getting all kinds of
X stuff which is filling up my image.

This comes from the way Redhat defines their components,
which I copy. If you look in
the /usr/lib/uml/umlbuilder/profiles/RedHat7.3.p file you can
see them all defined.
I note that network-tools includes a whole bunch of KDE stuff,
and that network server includes vnc. Their respective
dependcies will bring in all the X stuff you don't want. I'll have
a fiddle with this stuff and move the rpms which require X to be
in the one of the X based selections instead.
UML Builder also creates the files as sparse files. Run 'control
du' and you'll see how much file space is actually being used. It
also includes a miniroot that allows you to resize and change
the size of filesystems. This is currently undocumented, and
the resize doesn't like reiserfs, but I'll work on it.
I have fixed the profile so that network tools and network
server do not include any X based stuff. This will be available in
the next release of UML Builder.
