I have UMA running and I really like it. But there is something that I can't do. I know there is a way to have an interface to give the visitor some password verification. Like when they forget their password.

How can I get my hands in something like "forgotpw.php". Is there supposed to be one file like that in the package?

Also, is there a way to have an interface to have the visitor create their own username? Like "signup.php"? I've seen it before but I am out of ideas on how to implement it.

Great product by the way. Using the adming tool I created multiple user accounts for different "services" in no time.

    Congrats!

Any interface you wish to provide your users into the UMA data is left up to you. If you would like help creating these forms, let me know. I offer paid support for UMA here,
http://www.vanceconsulting.net/support. I also can provide per project estimates.

I understand. I could probably make the interface I mentioned. I was just thinking that since I saw a reference to the file forgotpw.php in one of the scripts, maybe the sample file for that, was missing.

I'm currently in the process of installing UMA, but this posting has gotten me confused on what exactly UMA does. I'm a newbie in the area of creating a secure members-only area so please forgive any grossy ignorant comments that I make here ;)

The reason that I have decided that I need a program like UMA is because I am creating a website that can only be accessed by members so that their personal info such as phone numbers, postal and email addresses, etc can be protected. At first I was thinking I would just make a password protected folder, but then when I got thinking more deeply about this, it became evident that creating usernames and passwords for about 100 members (with a growing membership) plus sending an individual email to EACH of these members to give them their login infomation, was not a task that I was prepared to undertake. I had dabbled with PostNuke and so I knew that this entire process could be automated so evenually I came across UMA. But in the above posting, it is pointed out that users cannot create their own usernames... Mr. Vance could you please fill me in on this?

Option A: Once installed, I would have to create a username for each user and then they would choose their password? If this is the case, then that's great for my purposes.

Option B: But if I have to create their username AND password, that would mean that I'd have to send out an individual email to each of the 100+ members to give them their login info!

What happens with UMA? Option A or B?

      Thanks for your time,
      Nathan

You can use UMA in any fashion you chose. How users signup for your site is irrelavent to UMA. UMA provides a database, admin tool, and some classes that you can use to interact with the UMA database.
