The rear wheels on the cars are not locked to the axel axis, ie, when the car enters into a slip the rear wheels turn round their vertical axis. This is normally only small but when the car slips a lot the rear wheels are facing at right angles to the car forward vector causing some strange driving issues.

I think I know what you mean. Especially the F1 car has this problem, probably because the wheels are so wide.
I use ODE for physics, and I need to set the right values for various parameters of the constraints. It's quite difficult to find parameters that are both good at preserving the constraints, and produce a stable simulation. Some values can be set in the car's .conf file (ERP and CFM values, see the ODE documentation on their website), and the simulation step settings in ultimatestunts.conf can also be important. If you find better values, please report it to me.
