#35 Sound has a skipping behavior in RC4

Sound i skipping in ALSA mode. In SDL Mode it sounds fine.

ALSA gives me:

ALSA: WARNING: non-power of 2 buffer size. sound may be
unsatisfactory. Recommend using either the plughw or hw
devices or adjusting dmix to have a power of 2 buf size
ALSA: 4233 bytes buffer with mmap interleaved access
Audio: 16 bit, stereo, 22050 Hz, using ALSA

OSS gives me

OSS: Using device: /dev/dsp
Could not mmap /dev/dsp. Input/output error

This is due to new hardware with only 44100 and/or 48000 Hz chipsets, mmap access has problems with them.
    * Please try running at 44100 or 48000 Hz by using the "-sndspeed 44100" (or 48000) command line argument, or by using the gtk launcher.
    * For ALSA, might be able to run at default 22050 Hz by trying the alsa device usually as plughw:0 (might be different for your setup)
    * For alsa, also see the README file for a solution reported by a gentoo guy.

Ultimate solution may be get rid of mmap some day. Changing status to pending.

That worked at 48000 Hz only.

    OK then closing the bug.

On an unrelated note, I looked at your mandriva rpm spec file for rc4. A few FYI notes:
    * It misses the newly added cath entity file installation
    * It misses the cdrip shell scripts installation
    * It adds DEBUG=yes to the make command line: Are you sure you want that? It eliminates all optimization flags. If you only want to have the debug symbols present in your binary, than you should export the CLAGS like:
    export CFLAGS="-g"
    make <other_things...>

    Just sayin...
