Hi I’m trying to evaluate the performance of UDT vs SCP across 2 nodes on the IU campus cluster and with the provided example sender and receiver without any configuration change, it was around 3-4 times slower compared to SCP to transfer files. I was checking this for 100MB and 1GB files. What could be the possible reasons for that? Thanks Dimuthu |

Hi, I am new to udt (udp based).as you mentioned class ccc have events to be overridden. Could any one please let me know can i use or integrate udt congestion control to delay tolerant networks like where delay could be in seconds, minutes, hours, a day or even more. Can i use udp in this scenario? If yes please help in how to start integrating it and use it. Looking forward for reply Thanks, Shiva |

How exactly did you do it? create socket A, bind to port P1, and listen(A) in thread 1; create socket B, bind to port P2, and listen(B) in thread 2. Note that P1 cannot be the same as P2. If you did as described above, at which point the thread is blocked? Venkatrao, We don't support the simulation code any more since the release of UDTv4. You probbaly didn't include udt.h and udt.cc in the NS-2 source code directory and compile NS-2 again. The default UDT parameters are tuned for very high speed networks. In very low bandwidth environment, it may send too many packets out before it detects the available bandwidth, thus it cause many packet loss. We are working on automatic parameter tuning on this issue. Thanks for the report on your interesting experiment. Similar to what you do with TCP. set UDT_SNDSYN and/ro UDT_RCVSYN to false. On Fri, 8 Jun 2007, Zhao Penghui wrote: > Hi all: > Just like the mail subject, I want to know how to use nonblocking > to send and recv data. > > -- > SearchDream > |

Whenever I try to use UDT::recvfile() UDT fails with the status "connection was broken". I don't know why this is, are there any pointers to what I'm doing wrong? UDT::sendfile() in the peer program reports no errors. -Nigel |

Currently UDT::accept takes a length argument that is an int, it would be a good idea to overload this to accept a socklen_t argument to be consistent with the Linux accept(2) system call. -Nigel -- Nigel Horne. Hallo, i wrote a client server application to transfer files. I`d like to start the server over the superdaemon xinetd. I know that xinetd uses fork. Is there any possibility to work with udt and xinetd? Im sorry for my bad english. bye Till |

There are many factors that can affect the transfer performance. In addition, UDT is not necessarily always faster than TCP, especially on long bandwidth environments. I do believe that you can modify the UDT code by yourself to reach better performance, unfortunately this requires some understanding to the code:) There are available tools using parallel TCP to boost transfer speed for home network users.
