Harald, I give up for tonight. I've tried to read Chris's code, to see how it positions itself under various circumstances, and I just can't figure it out. Although my gut feel is that it has to do with the multiple entries in the database, and the out-of-order-ness, I cannot make a good case for this. It may be something else entirely. The one thing I'm certain of is that Chris will say "oh, that's simple... when you see that error, if it's a Tuesday, just call FrobbleDyGrook(), unless it's a full moon". Chances are pretty good that there's _some_ UDF function to deal with this. So whatever happens tomorrow, please ship me a copy of your entire data tree. I'll try to track down the error as deep as I can, then ask Chris for advice. Incidentally, thank you for your PIDF-debugging hints. I am certain that others can find that useful.
