i'm not an UDE user but I have read the "get used to it".

Some desktop environment combines the launchers with theirs owns tasks. That can be obtained without using a tray and just with the UDE's menu :

once one has launched an application or many at once,
the applications menu displays a task entry,
this task entry is what one would have get otherwise by its own control.
On an other hand, the task menu should have an applications menu entry even if there's no apps running.

By this way one can pass from the applications to theirs tasks and reversely whatever the corresponding command one use.
