During a class on programming, I had my students repeatedly print and type their names to the screen, because I remember one of the first BASIC programs someone demonstrated for me:
10 PRINT "Steve ";
20 GOTO 10
I had the students type in either:
repeat 100000 [ type "|Steve | ]
repeat 100000 [ print "|Steve | ]
but replacing my name with their own.
With UCBLogo 6 on Windows XP, these little Logo programs run without problems. On Mac OS X, the first one causes UCBLogo to respond very sluggishly (for example, typing in another command takes a long time), and the second one seems to make UCBLogo lock up completely (the colorful spinning dial appears and UCBLogo becomes completely unresponsive).
