    Hello

Sorry I didn't follow up with the issues I outlined in the review, I've
    been away.

So I've got links to the errors that came up.

http://i.imgur.com/hpEBtzi.png Desura wants GTK+ to be installed. I already
have Desura installed so I have no clue what's happening here.

http://i.imgur.com/jGch6Se.png This is probably just an issue with WINE,
I'm not worried about it really.

http://i.imgur.com/06r2AQk.png Some packages won't open here.

http://i.imgur.com/jckgZg4.png I still have this issue where the added ppas
    are not right.

Mostly I have a huge issue with my Software Center where it will not open
in a window at all now. This is on my Desktop running 14.04.1 and also
Xubuntu 14.0.1 If you can see to the left there is a software update, but
when I click on it the window does not open. The only way I can install
update is right clicking and selecting Install All Available Updates or
going to the terminal so I can actually see what I'm updating.

Finally and most annoyingly, I cannot find a way to get the background for
the splash screen back to the way it was before. I used to show the same
wallpaper as the one I had set on my desktop, but now it shows something
else. Please help me fix this.

    Thanks
    Mark Whittingham

OK, I decided to tackle the issue with the repositories first since that may fix several other issues. The mistake I made was assuming that people using this project would always use the latest version thereby using the utopic repositories.

I am just starting with this issue now and will let you know when I am done and have tried it out in the closest thing to your Ubuntu version I could find.

I apologize for not providing an adequate reply before, things have been hectic around here and I did not even have the time to do anything online. I have plenty of time to respond properly now.

OK, now I have the time to respond to this properly so here goes:

http://i.imgur.com/hpEBtzi.png Desura wants GTK+ to be installed. I already
have Desura installed so I have no clue what's happening here.

I already corrected this issue in a past update, that error message has not appeared again on my end.

http://i.imgur.com/jGch6Se.png This is probably just an issue with WINE,
I'm not worried about it really.

Yes, that is an issue with WINE and cances are it went away after the next WINE update. I did not encounter it yet but have encountered other issues with WINE that the developers later fixed.

http://i.imgur.com/06r2AQk.png Some packages won't open here.

That error message seems to have come up when security auditing software is run. The most likely cause is directory and ownership settings preventing the directory listed there, rpmdb, from being accessed by the program that was running. This is not something to worry about but I will add looking into this issue to my to do list.

http://i.imgur.com/jckgZg4.png I still have this issue where the added ppas
    are not right.

Unfortunately I am unable to duplicate that issue on my end, I have never seen that happen yet.

If there are 404 errors that linger from past or current ppa addition failures or a ppa going offline, you can try method 2 in this article to easily clear it and then try installing the ppas again: http://www.upubuntu.com/2015/01/how-to-get-rid-of-404-not-found-ppas.html

I have encountered this issue before I even started this project, stuff like that can happen due to a bad update to the software center which is outside the scope of this project and is most likely to happen soon after the release date of the next Ubuntu version. You can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the software center, that will fix the issue in most cases. If the software center stays broken, you can use one of several other software centers.

Finally and most annoyingly, I cannot find a way to get the background for
the splash screen back to the way it was before. I used to show the same
wallpaper as the one I had set on my desktop, but now it shows something
else. Please help me fix this.

If you are not using GDM, I would need to know what you are using to display the login screen. Can you provide more information?

I have tested this program in Xubuntu 14.04 and was able to replicate the error regarding repositories not installing properly. It seems like the Python version in Xubuntu 14.04 does not seem to like the function in my program for adding repositories using add-apt-repository, it keeps complaining that it needs more than 2 arguments to install them and causing the double slashes to appear where they should not in the repository list. I was unable to replicate this problem in other Ubuntu versions (I was mainly using 14.10 before which did not have this issue) but now that I confirmed it I made it my top priority. Do not download this program until I have the issue fixed.

The solution for removing the 404'd repositories is to open the software centre application, then select settings > Software Properties >Other Software, and then selecting and removing the items that generate 404 errors. The solution posted in forums did not work.
