This is actually a very good program. I have many file type association managers and almost always end up using this one because of the more advanced features that it has.

But..it is very difficult to find. The name is a very common word and most people use the term "file association" rather than "types". It doesn't even show up in Sourceforge searches using what I would consider the usual words for file association managers. Either a completely new name, or changing it to "File Types Association Configurator" would bring much more traffic, expose this great tool to more people, and make it easier for us that use it to find updates.

On that note of hard to find if you type LOL "Type" AND "izt" its the first on the list ^_^ I was introduced to this app via a comment on Paint.NET's FileHippo page

See I use a LOT of custom file types associations ^_^ ( I have attached a txt file with the ones I use for and to run VLC Media Player through the GNU Debugger)

its one of the main reasons I prefer to stick with Windows XP (STABLE, Mature, etc)

I not only use multiple associations for some associations but I also prefer to change or keep certain Icons as I am visual (I see the icons, the types(text), etc) I sort by types by default and some times use name or date depending on certain circumstances

I can NOT do this on Windows 7, so thx izt for a neat and VERY MUCH NEEDED APP!!!! ^_^ ;D ;D

I also have several suggestions for improvements from GUI size(widening the default size a bit so the complete PATH info can be seen more easily) and layout to...
the CMD arguments in its own box... maybe the ability to edit some advanced Auto-Play associations like "MS's PowerToy__Tweak UI (v2.10)(WinXP)"...

offer more detailed mode for the main GUI so each file type association can be seen
with more details like say Windows Explorer's Details or Tiles mode...
well that what I can recall for now...

the page here could use files in its download section and his website could use
a Change-log page and the current version listed on the home page next to the download link perhaps

as far as my chats with him go I don't believe he has released the code..

also his home page's domain expired so he setup a new one, and emailed me the new links

Thanks for the information! I'm glad to see that the project is still active.

According to what I could find, older versions were licenses under GPL. I'm guessing he didn't want it to be open source any more and that's why he removed it from Sourceforge. But, SF should have the old code archived if it actually ever was available.
