The first problem is that it has trouble connecting to the transmitter if the transmitter has been put into “local” for a short time. What I see is the message about not being able to communicate with the transmitter. This is even after the Tx is back in remote. Restarting the ThomsonTxInterface does not solve the problem. I found that I have to send a SNMP command from the command prompt before it will work again. I’ve seen this twice now. I think restarting the control room computer did not solve the problem. Restarting the computer in the Tx seemed to partially work again, but it still gave the same message. I say it partially worked because the transmitter took on the settings in the PLC when the Tx computer came back up, but still said it could not communicate.
