I'm proud to announce that Twister Music Player 2.1 has been fixed. Now it shouldn't crash anymore.
Still, the only bad part is that, after you click the repair button in the settings menu (which is necessary when youtube videos don't play anymore) the bug may appear again. This is a bug of the latest versions of VLC, the library that Twister uses, so they will probably fix it in the near future. The point is, if by clicking the repair button, the issue reappears, you should click the reset button and try again in the next days (or manually repair youtube, in which case the bug won't appear, see the readme file).
Version 2.1 is now available.
Unfortunately, before saying what the new features are, i have to tell you about a bug that i noticed after i uploaded the new version and before i fix it and upload the fixed version, you'll need to know how to avoid it.
Twister, for an unknown reason, crashes when you have other applications in front of it (like a video game). The only way, at the moment, you can avoid it, is to minimize Twister before starting other applications. This way, you shouldn't encounter it. I hope a fixed version will be available soon.
Now, about the features. You can now watch youtube videos and listen to radio stations directly into Twister. Writing the info of a file should work better. Twister now have a fullscreen support (even with subtitles).
Sorry again for the bug.
Hi,
Twister Music Player 2.0 is now available. You no longer have to install JMF to use Twister, because it now uses VLC (that's why the intaller is a little bigger, because it contains some VLC files). Also, now Twister let you know when your favourite bands release new albums.
Hi,
Version 1.8 of Twister has been released. You can now watch music videos in Twister. Also, Twister should now be able to render most of the audio formats, thanks to a new library called DSJ. On the other hand, this library requires Windows Media Player 9 and DirectX 9 which you should have in order for wma, m4a and other not so usual formats to be played. JMF is still required. Regarding JMF, unfortunately i found that it is free to distribute only if my application installs it manually. This is a tricky thing and instead of trying it and not being able to do it right, i prefered, like before, to give you a link to download Twister. I hope in the future JMF won't be required at all. Also, i hope there will be a site for Twister soon.
Hi,
I released the version 1.7 of Twister Music Player. If you have a last.fm account, Twister is now able to cache data about what you're listening to if your internet connection is down. It also fixes a major bug and it can now be installed anywhere on your computer (this was also a bug in the previous versions). Plus that you don't have to download JMF anymore, it is included in the installer and it is installed automatically when you start Twister for the first time. I will also upload new images because the ones that are displayed on this site now are kinda old.
There is a new version of Twister. If you have a last.fm account now you can use Twister to "scrobble" what you're listening to.
Hi,
After some time, i have released another version of Twister. It's not 1.4 as you would expect, but 1.5 because, although i had some problems and i couldn't upload it, 1.4 version exists. Twister is now able to provide info about the song, artist or album that is being played (users can also search for specific info). All the info is provided by www.last.fm. Also, a library is now added so you can bookmark songs and rate them. Notice that, if you download the sources, the info tab won't work because it requires some kind of password which i deleted from the sources.
Hi,
I added some new features to the new version. You can now sort the files in the playlist by filename, artist, length, plus that you can randomize and reverse the songs order. Also, i added volume control and i fixed a bug with the file info window.
Hi,
I have uploaded a new version of Twister. It is now able to display the lyrics of the songs you're listening to, considering you have the tags correctly set. It uses 3 free lyrics websites that should be enough for displaying lyrics for more than 90% of the songs that you listen to.
I have uploaded a new version of the program. Now it has more appealing graphics, and i gave the user the possibility to choose a background image for the main window plus some other graphical facilities like choosing the text color. In addition, i fixed a bug with the PlayList Manager. I hope you'll like it, i know it's not as appealing as the popular music players, but the popular music players aren't written in java, plus that i think i still have a lot to learn in order to make an outstanding graphical interface. And, anyway, graphics aren't a priority, for an audio player it's important how it plays music.
I rebuilt the installer so now it installs the program, by default, to the Application Data folder where it has permission to write temporary files. Still, you shouldn't change this location to another location in the Windows partition, if you change the install destination you should change it to another partition.
I have installed this program myself and i realized it shouldn't be installed in the Windows Partition. I have Windows 7 and it doesn't grant permission to the program to write any temporary files. You should install it on another partition, otherwise many functions like the history may not work. Sorry for that, i hope it's not a problem.
Hello everyone,
I've decided to upload my work in the last 2 months. It started as a way to spend my time without getting bored :) but it became more serious after some time.
So, why i made a music player? Because i was disapointed by the quality of the popular music players. I wanted a player who is capable of really playing a list randomly (meaning not to have a song played 10 times and another one never played). Plus that i wanted a tool to help me move all the songs in a playlist in the same folder (before writing this program my music was very unorganized in my computer). So i wrote this program, i learned a lot of things by doing this, and i plan on adding a lot more features. Unfortunately i'm limited by the development of other projects that my program uses. With this ocasion, i have to mention (and thanks for creating the projects) all persons working on the Entagged, JAudioTagger and JMF who've done a great job.
In the end, you should download the installer if you just want to try the program (don't forget to install the programs the installer mentions) or the sources (i uploaded the whole NetBeans project). There will be a readme available soon.
I hope you'll like it and please tell me about the bugs you encounter. Bye.
