Peter & Nicholas : what are you thinking about task assignment & whatnot? I'm thinking it's up to you to prioritize things and get "first things first" going. I''ve been working on the %SEARCH...% tag and related stuff; it's fun but... FeatureToDo needs to be a little stronger, maybe. I'll continue working on SearchEnhancements for now. Even though what I started with was nothing that had been asked for, it leads to what was asked for. ;-) Kevin |

I'm going to set up the cvs at sourceforge. At this stage just to getting the thing running for some testing. I'll probably put the 01 May 2000 release in to the cvs. The ,v RCS files in the data directory oppose a slight problem. So at this stage I'll probably include only the other directories. The data files will then be included in a seperate (tgz/zip) file until a further decision is made. This will allow seperate development of the TWiki content and presentation. As it should be. Once I've got it running and talked to Peter, we'll decide on write access to the cvs. Nicholas |

See: http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/ and http://sfdocs.sourceforge.net/sfdocs/display_topic.php?topicid=13 I'll put something together for Codev tonight. Nicholas |

Certianly something we should consider fopr the future, load testing. I suspec that currently the process table is our limit. Nicholas |

Thanks Nicholas. Could you add the following to the TWiki project News section? ---( from here )--- Changes since the last production release (01 Sep 1999) * Statistics about usage and contributions. This can be used for an incentive program to give your collaborations a jump-start, i.e. to elect a "contributor of the month". * Inline search using %SEARCH{"str" ...}% variable. * Preferences like edit box size can be set by editing topics. There are site-level, web-level and user-level preferences. * Better security with taint checking (perl -T option). * Uploading a file (e.g. attaching a file to a topic) will optionally create a link to the uploaded file at the end of the topic, or show the image inline for JPG and GIF files. * Some other minor changes. ---( to here )--- Also, if you have time could you submit the news to the SourceForge frontpage News? You can use some of the text of the announcements. I archived them at http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Main/TWikiAnnounce20000501 I will announce it at Freshmeet, Slashdot, Linux PR, Linux Applications, Linux DaveCentral, www.perl.com . I will do that not all at once, otherwise we will get slashdotted. Places where we are listed are archived in http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Main/TWikiAnnouncements Thanks, Peter Nicholas Lee wrote: > > > FYI, I released the TWiki 01 May 2000 production > > version today. Dear TWiki developer, I am sending this email because you requested the TWiki source in the past and asked to be notified of new beta and production releases. Please drop me a line if you do not wish to receive further TWiki announcements. TWiki is now hosted at SourceForge, a web hosting service for Open Source projects. Access TWiki at http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=3657 and http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/ . We are looking for contributors! See details in the ReadmeFirst topic of the TWiki.Codev developers web at http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Codev/ . Fist of all I suggest you to subscribe in WebNotify of the TWiki.Codev web so that you stay up to date on the latest development issues. TWiki is getting very popular, there are many downloads per day. TWiki is mainly used behind corporate firewalls. Some major companies in the computer industry and news media industry are using TWiki as an internal collaboration tool. This is a good sign that TWiki will take off. Interesting times ahead! And you could be part of it as a contributor! We also get some press coverage, one example is by BYTE's columnist Jon Udell at http://www.byte.com/column/BYT20000427S0001 . As a reminder, there are two types of TWiki releases: Beta and production releases. * Production releases: Released not so frequently. New users can request it from the http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/download.html page. Existing users will be notified if requested. * Beta releases: Betas are frequently released (We can generate a Beta distribution release simply by executing a script). New Betas are not announced, but can be downloaded from the beta download directory. The URL is available upon request. A new production release is available: TWiki version 01 May 2000. You can download the zipped version from http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/TWiki20000501.zip Changes since the last production release (01 Sep 1999) * Statistics about usage and contributions. This can be used for an incentive program to give your collaborations a jump-start, i.e. to elect a "contributor of the month". * Inline search using %SEARCH{"str" ...}% variable. * Preferences like edit box size can be set by editing topics. The complete change history is at http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Main/TWikiHistory Upgrading from the 01 Sep 1999 version is described in http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Main/TWikiUpgradeTo01May2000 Best regards and happy TWiking, Peter -- http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/ |

Dear TWiki devs, Nicholas and I are now administrating the TWiki development. Nicholas set up the TWiki-Dev mailing list (thanks Nicholas!). So far 5 persons signed up. Please subscribe now if you have not done yet and you'd like to be kept in the TWiki codev loop. This is the last email I send out to the individuals on this list. All further communication should be done either on the * TWiki-Dev email list at mailto:twi...@li... for "volatile" conversational discussions. * TWiki.Codev web at http://TWiki.SourceForge.net/cgi-bin/view/Codev/ for more "permanent" discussions like new features, brainstorming and so on. FYI, I released the TWiki 01 May 2000 production version today. It will be announced shortly to all people who requested to be notified.
