Tux Racer 0.60 Released

Tux Racer 0.60 has been released. This is the first public release of the game since Sunspire Studios joined the development. The game now sports a completely revised interface, new gameplay features, improved graphics, sound and music, and joystick support.

Tux Racer 0.11.1 Released

This is a bug fix release; it fixes a rather silly bug on my part that unfortunately affected everyone except for me. :-( If you got a coredump on tuxracer 0.11 startup, this should fix it.

Tux Racer 0.11 Released

I've released Tux Racer 0.11. This release introduces several changes for the benefit of course designers; they can now customize lighting, fog, and particle colour to their liking.

The biggest change to gameplay is that courses can now be played in "mirrored" mode, for added variety.

Two new user-contributed courses are also included.

Tux Racer 0.10.1 Released

I've released version 0.10.1, a bug fix release. This fixes a particularly nasty bug in the steering code, which resulted in far too many particles being generated.

Tux Racer 0.10 Released

Version 0.10 of Tux Racer, an OpenGL-based racing game featuring Tux the Linux Penguin, had been released. This is the first public release of Tux Racer, and I'm looking for feedback and help from developers and course designers.

Version 0.10 is incomplete, but still playable. Tux can turn, brake, and jump; collision detection with trees works; and the physical model is fairly well tuned. Four courses are included, but these need work.... read more
